What It's Like to Travel With Me (Before, During, After)

I get this question more than any other: "So... what actually happens on one of your trips?"
And I love it, because it tells me something. It tells me you're curious. Maybe you've been watching from the sidelines, saving the posts, reading about discovering your travel style, and wondering if a hosted trip is really for you. Whether you're considering joining one of my hosted trips or working with me to plan your next journey, I want to give you a behind-the-scenes look at the experience.
So today, I'm pulling back the curtain, Not the highlight reel but the whole journey, from the very first conversation to the moment you're back home unpacking a version of yourself you didn't leave with. Because trust isn't built on pretty photos. It's built on knowing exactly what you are saying yes to.
It Starts with a Conversation, not a Booking
Before there's an itinerary, before there's a destination, there's you and me, talking. When you book a consultation or reach out about a hosted trip, my first job isn't to sell you anything. It's to listen. Because travel is personal:
No two travelers are the same
Some are celebrating a milestone
Some need rest
Some want adventure
Some simply want a break from carrying everyone else's responsibilities
We Start with You, not a Destination
I'll ask you questions most travel planners never do. Not just "Where do you want to go?" but "How do you want to feel when you're there?" Are you a Soul Seeker craving stillness and meaning? A Culture Collector who wants to taste, touch, and learn everything? A Celebration Seeker ready to mark a milestone the unforgettable way.
Your answers shape everything that comes after. If you've downloaded Travel Redesigned: Where to Go in 2026, you've already seen how differently I think about matching women to destinations. A hosted trip works the same way. I'm not filling seats. I'm curating a room.
Why This Step Matters More Than You Think
Here's the honest truth about group travel: the itinerary is only half the experience. The women around the table are the other half. Because I take time to understand who's coming and why, my trips attract women who are aligned... in spirit, in pace, in intention. That's not luck. That's design.
While You're Living Your Life, I'm Building Your Trip
Once you've claimed your spot, something wonderful happens: you get to go back to your life. No tabs open. No review spirals at midnight. No wondering it that "charming boutique hotel" is actually charming.
I've written before about the difference between planning a trip and curating one. And this is where you feel it. Behind the scenes, I'm doing the work you'll never see:
Vetting every stay - not just for beauty, but for safety, location, and how it feels to walk in the door
Building relationships with local hosts - the chef, the artisan, the guide who tells you the stories that aren't in any guidebook
Pacing the days intentionally - immersion and rest, woven together so you never feel rushed or restless
Planning for the "what ifs" - so if something shifts, you'll barely notice, because I've already handled it
The Weeks Before We Leave
This is where most group trips go quiet and where mine get warmer.
You'll Never Wonder What's Next
Leading up to departure, you'll receive everything you need, beautifully laid out and in plain language: your detailed itinerary, a packing guide tailored to our destination and activities, cultural notes so you arrive feeling prepared and respectful, and answers to questions you didn't even know to ask. Before you travel, you'll receive guidance on:
Entry requirements
Transportation options
Arrival information
Cultural insights
Local customs
Recommended experiences
Practical travel tips
By the time your departure date arrives, you'll know exactly what to expect. And that peace of mind matters.
You'll also start to meet the other women traveling with you. By the time we board, you won't be flying towards strangers - You'll be flying towards almost friends.
The Nerves Are Normal - and Welcome
Can I tell you a secret? Almost every woman feels a flutter of "What am I doing?" in the final weeks. Especially first-time solo travelers. I expect it, I plan for it, and I'm one message away the entire time. You're never navigating those feelings alone.
Then, We're There
The welcome dinner is my favorite moment of the trip. There's a long table, food that tells you exactly where you are, and a circle of women exhaling - really exhaling - for the first time in months. By dessert, the laughter sounds like you've known each other for years.
Days That Are Curated, Never Crammed
Every day has a rhythm: a centerpiece experience - a cooking class in a family home, a guided walk-through century of history, a ceremony, a market, a moment surrounded by space. Real space. Because the difference between seeing a place and experiencing it lives in the unhurried hours. Anyone can visit a destination. But experiencing it is something different. I intentionally build opportunities for:
Cultural immersion
Authentic local experiences
Meaningful connection
Personal discovery
Balance between activity and downtime
Sometimes the moments you'll remember most aren't the ones that were planned. They're the unexpected conversations. The hidden restaurants. The local traditions. The moments that help you connect with a place in a deeper way.
On Hosted Trips, Community Matters
One of the more rewarding parts of my hosted journeys is watching strangers become friends. Travelers often tell me: They expected beautiful destinations. They didn't expect the connections. The conversations. The shared experiences. The laughter. The support. Those relationships often become just as meaningful as the destination itself.
Room to Wander, Room to Rest
You'll never be tied to the group every minute. Want to slip away to journal on your balcony? Linger in that little shop? Take an afternoon nap with the windows open? That's not just allowed... it's built in. This is your trip. I've simply made sure every option in front of you is a good one.
And When Something Unexpected Happens?
Travel is alive - flights shift, weather changes, life happens. The difference on a hosted trip is that it's not your problem to solve. While I'm rerouting and rearranging, you're still at lunch. Most of the time, the group never even knows there was a hiccup. That's the job. That's the promise.
The Trip Ends. The Experience Doesn't.
Coming home from an international trip feels different. You're not collapsing into your bed thinking "I need a vacation from my vacation." You're unpacking slowly. Texting the group chat. Cooking the dish you learned. Noticing that something in you has quietly rearranged itself. The best souvenirs aren't things. They're stories. They're memories. They're moments that shift your perspective. They're experiences that stay with you months - or even years later. Travel has a way of reminding us of what's possible. And that's one of the reasons I love helping people explore the world.
I stay close in those weeks, too - with reflections, photos from our time together, and an open door for what's next. Because for so many of my travelers, the first trip isn't the last. It's the beginning of a travel a life that finally fits.

Is a Hosted Trip Right for You?
If you've read this far, something in you is already answering that question. Maybe you're tired of waiting for friends' schedules to align. Maybe you're craving travel that feels like more - more depth, more ease, more you. Maybe you're simply ready to be poured into for once.
You don't have to figure it out alone. Explore upcoming hosted trips to see what's on the calendar or join the waitlist to be the first to know when now destinations open. And it you're still in the "just curious" phase? That's exactly where every one of my travelers started.
At Signature Your Design Travel, this is what I do: I take the trip you've been dreaming about and make it the one you actually live. At the heart of everything I do is one simple belief:
Travel should feel meaningful. It should feel intentional. It should feel like it was designed specifically for you. Because the goal isn't just to visit somewhere new. It's to come home with stories, connections, and experiences that stay with you long after the trip is over.
I'd be honored to travel with you.
